When I was little, my mother gave me her Nancy Drew collection: almost all of the series as printed in the 1960s, plus one battered 1930 first edition of "The Bungalow Mystery." I adored them, and scorned the more current attempts to revive the series at the time.

I was pretty horrified to find out about the shiny modern teenie film adaptation they're releasing this year, but it did give me an idea for a birthday card for my mum. It was a last-minute inspiration, so I didn't have time to be period-correct about the clothing, but I'm pretty happy with it all the same.
